Abstract

Patrol is the unit of every police department that answers calls, delivers service, prevents crime, and is considered the core of policing. Police patrol can provide much more service when assigned optimally. Due to the limited number of police but unlimited service requirements, police decision-makers have to properly apportion its allocation while also properly considering the designated locations. The patrol police location-allocation problem aims to determine the assignment of patrol police to strategic locations in an optimal manner. This problem usually involves many factors that may be conflicting in nature. This study introduces the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and goal programming methodology to solve the patrol police location-allocation problem for Cagayan de Oro City. Results of the study show that the proposed model provides better police visibility and maximum protection compared to the current patrol police assignment around the city.
